Rubbish

Rubbish should be easily accessed and close to the sink, food, preparation and cleanup areas. Rubbish bins that open in one motion or come out of the cupboard when the door is open work best. They can also be designed so that they can be opened hands-free. The number and size of bins can be varied to suit the user.

Trays

Trays, chopping boards and other flat objects should be stored vertically. A narrow tray cupboard or a larger cupboard with a vertical divider is useful for this.

Towels, Gloves and Mitts

There should be places for these close to where they will be needed and able to be easily reached (not behind a cupboard door).

Fire Extinguisher

A fire extinguisher or blanket is never seen in glamorous kitchen photos but is important to have tucked away in a handy location. This could save your new kitchen or even your house.
