   For The Elderly

  • Consider that eyesight and physical mobility may be reduced
  • Ensure good lighting for work areas
  • Use non-glare surfaces
  • Contrast bench top and floor colours so that the edge of the bench can be easily seen
  • Avoid high storage that requires climbing to access
  • Keep often-used items in easy reach
  • Choose taps are easily turned on and off (lever taps are preferred)
  • Ensure that doors and drawers are easily opened (bow handles are preferred)
